Joie Kemmis: The Marine Corp. teaches the History of Wars involving the United States. They don't teach World History. The Young people know nothing of what happened to the Palestinians after WW2. They don't know what President Eisenhower said in His speech when He left office in 1960. They get their news from Fox, Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck. I could go on and on but what's the point. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/bushswar/...Show more
Kaylee Schmittou: Not really...not world history or US history...not in basic training. You need to realize that the US Army isn't a school, it is a branch of the military and so it focuses on things that relate to the military such as military history, tactics, strategies, etc.The US Army teaches its newest recruits almost nothing about history, aside from the US Army's birthday or other notable events. For instance, how many soldiers learned about Operation Overlord in BCT? What were Omaha and Utah beach? Who landed! at Gold, Juno and Sword? That stuff is a bit irrelevant to the rank and file soldier. If you get the chance, you can go to advanced schools like the Army's War College where they not only teach you military history, but other ways of becoming a better tactician and leader on the battlefield. I've never been, so I can't really comment on what the syllabus looks like, but I'm sure there's enough history in there that is relevant to the military's mission....Show more
Miguel Densley: im talkin about military history
Delmer Pectol: No. I think they're on their ABCs for the first few years.
