Emery Blando: It's legal, because all the online gambling websites are based in, and operated out of different offshore companies.
Gordon Showes: Okay so. The actual act of gambling and placing a bet is not illegal. It is, however, illegal to take bets on sporting events. Additionally, it is illegal for banks to transfer money to online gambling institutions. So whereas you could legally place a bet, even on a sporting event, it is illegal for anybody to actually take your bet on said sporting event. Additionally, there would be nearly no method by which you could fund your online gambling. As a result, many online gambling institutions have ceased to provide real-money gambling for US based customers. It could, in theory, be possible to use a third party intermediary to bypass the regulations, but the legality of such methods is dubious at best.In short: while not TECHNICALLY illegal, it is so impractical as to effectivley be illegal....Show more
Adrian Paraz: Si! nce you mentioned Sports Gambling Website, I'll tell you that you'll have to use an off-shore website like bovada. If you go this route, be warned that it's very difficult to get a payout because they're off-shore. Off-shore sites do not have to abide my US laws, hence why it's legal to bet on them.A natural substitute for this is playing on a fantasy sportsbook website. They act exactly like an off-shore one, but the money isn't real. Most of the participants set up an account to simulate what would happen if they bet for real, and some create leagues with an entry fee and invite and compete against their friends. They usally collect the entry fee from each participant and pay out at the end of the season. This is all up to the "commissioner" of course. The site I use (and trust) is called FreeMockBets. I've linked it below....Show more
Len Bormes: There is actually no federal law against gambling online. Some states might have laws against online gambling, but eve! n there prosecution against players is rare.
Tomi Vauter! s: No, online gambling is not illegal. In fact, some states even offer it through the lottery website. The federal government has created convoluted laws in order to create the appearance that it is illegal. This is because they don't have their hands in the pot, so to say. Another reason the laws are ambiguous, is due to online horse racing being legal in the USA. They had to create a law that didn't outlaw online horse racing wagering. They did this by scaring the banking industry into doing their dirty work for them. The law outlaws transactions to and from 'illegal online gambling' sites, but does not define what an illegal online gambling site is. In the end, it's a bunch of words with no teeth. I have bet online for several years and have never had any issues. Where people have run into problems is in the area of taxation. If you generate a profit, you will have to claim your increase on your income tax. This will eliminate the only avenue the government w! ill be able to prosecute you with. Now that is out of the way, you have to be careful in selecting a reputable site to deal with. You can do this by reading the in depth, independent reviews at http://www.Sportsbook-Ratings.net A review site written for sports bettors, by a fellow sports bettor. Only deal with reputable sites, and don't get sucked into a scam site by the allure of a huge bonus that you will never get paid on! Best of luck on a profitable season of football betting!...Show more
