civil partnership and marriage or just marriage?

Rebeca Mckin: I'd wait until 2015 and if it looks like marriage won't get legalised soon by then, get a civil partnership. Otherwise it's just twice the paperwork and cost. But then I'm more practical than romantic. :P

Cornelius Thornborrow: I can only speak from personal experience. In Canada, we have had same-sex marriage since the mid-decade, almost 10 years I think. My husband and I chose to marry because it gave us a stronger case and protection than civil union. However, if that's all you have now, why not go for civil union and marriage later when it become legal? I think, aside from the romantic element which is quite secondary, marriage, at least in Canada provides better protection for the spouses.Good luck....Show more

Esteban Lyson: Go for the civil partnership and union. You can always renew your vows in the church when same sex marriage is legalized in 2015.

Mitsuko Manne: human beings want to get over the actual incontrovertible actuali! ty that theres no longer some thing incorrect with 2 gays getting married the yank divorce fee is at 50%...if marriage change into sacred, then why cant 2 those that fairly love one yet another have that possibility... hypocrites....

Demetrius Coaster: If you want to be married then go for it. Have a ceremony and such now and then when it is legalized file the paperwork. However if you want to be able to have even some sort of legal definition until marriage is legal then file the civil partnership papers then in a few years file the marriage paperwork. Gay marriage is not legal in the states yet however my grandmother and her partner had a ceremony and while it is not recognized by the government to my family it is. As for children I would suggest documentation saying who the child would go to in case of a death. (Such as listing your partner in a will.) Reducing the risk of a child being taken away if it is only blood to one person. If adopting I do not really! know the rules in England but a dual parent adoption or simpl! y if it is allowed the parent not giving birth should adopt the child....Show more
