I want to go for a degree in education (to teach high school English) and want to know what I will learn in?

Clinton Quant: For your bachelor's you should earn your English degree and perhaps another major, definitely a minor. The education credentials are given with completion of secondary education program and student teaching semester. I've no idea what hiring is like in your area, but in Northern Illinois at least, for the past 5 years it's nearly impossible to gain entry level position if you already have your master's. Many districts though at the secondary level require the master's by your 5th or 8th year. Personally I learned very little in education courses, perhaps because history was my 3rd BA and I was 35, with 3 kids. I did find student teaching very rewarding as far as the kids went, but my mentoring teacher was a nightmare. I wish better for you!...Show more
