What happens when you transfer a title on a car with expired, out of state registration?

Julee Lanham: Not sure how Georgia works, but transferring a title to a new state in Wa has no reflection on the old registration. All you need to show is the old title, then they copy the information from the old title so they can mail a new title and appropriate registration to you/new owner. And to answer Karle, no not all states have that law. In Washington, you do not need a car or insurance on a car in order to get a license so there's no way they can suspend your license for dropping insurance....Show more

Rona Ising: yes only stupid places like califuku make the new owner pay late taxes and fees........so register it in ur name and move on..........** btw just a heads up all states now have laws making u turn in the tags withing 10 days of dropping insurance.....if u don't license will get suspended.......** and from personal experience make them give u a receipt.......Show more
