Donovan Stallons: I observed that the convertible vehicle seat worked good for my first however my 2nd and 0.33 had been to small at birth for the convertible seat ( the straps were above their shoulders at the lowest environment ) my forth baby out grew the infant seat between 4-6 months. . If you happen to child is lengthy adequate than you don't want an little one seat I used a sling, snuggle provider or stroller when looking ( I hate going to the mall considering I see so many people with journey techniques that the youngster stays within the whole time even propping up bottles in the vehicle seat ). It isn't endorsed to buy a used seat considering that you don't know the history of the seat ( was once is in an accident ?) you can't at all times see damage from an accident....Show more
Lana Uliano: So far, Red Kite Push Me Zebu First Stage Car Seat â" New & Boxed is the best for me.
Long Woltjer: Not sure what brand I have an evenflo, but I can say make s! ure you try to get one that you can adjust the straps from the front, makes things much easier.
Olen Penhallurick: Star is a chick gave you a great answer.Anyhow, like she was saying, that when rear facing the harness needs to be at or slightly below your child's shoulders. This is important because in a crash, the baby will slide toward the top of the shell. The point is to bring a tape measure when you are out shopping. Infant car seats do not last children very long because they have short shells and very low weight limits. Children can outgrow their infant seat with as little as 4-6 months of use to as much as 12-15 months of use (depending on how big your child is). Infant seats are mainly for the convenience factor. You don't have to get an infant seat; instead you can get a convertible car seat. These stay installed in the car and are much bigger and do not have a carry handle. You have to take your baby in an out. Convertibles can fit newborns as long as the l! owest harness position is less than 7 inches (and if it has a ! minimum weight limit of 5 lbs). Car crashes are the leading cause of both disability and death for children under 12 years of age. Statistics show that more than 95% of child safety seats are used or installed incorrectly. Car seat manuals can be confusing which is why I recommend all parents get their child's seat checked by a child passenger safety technician (CPST). The key part of installing a child safety seat is to have it move less than 1 inch side to side and front to back at the belt path. You want a tight installation. Having the car seat move less is preferable. There are 2 methods on installing a car seat. One way is with the LATCH system and the other way is with the vehicle seat belt. Neither method is safer provided that you get a good installation. Never use both methods. I would read up on the LATCH system in the following link: http://www.thecarseatlady.com/vehicles/the_latch_s...I would recommend the following infant car seats:-Britax B-Safe-Chicco Key Fi! t 30-Graco Snugride 30 or the 35 model -Cosco Comfort Carry Elite (it is a really great seat for the price; it has really low harness slots and is affordable)I recommend these seats because the handles can be left up while driving (each seat may certain up positions the handle can be in; just make sure you read the manual carefully in what position it is allowed). Some infant seats require the handle to be completely down and behind the child. The AAP also recommends that children ride rear facing for as long as possible. This means that after children outgrow their infant seat to switch to a convertible car seat and use it until the child outgrows it. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recommends that all 2 and 3 years old ride rear facing if they have not outgrown their convertible car seat by weight or height. They recommend this for very important reasons- studies have shown that rear facing kids are 5 times safer than front facing kids. Also, for kids under the age of 2 may suffer from internal decapitation in a crash....Show more
Melvin Nakama: I highly reccomend chicco we have the cortina and I wreaked my car w my 8 month ! only in the car it flipped 5 times n landed upside down he didn't have so much as a bruise it defenitally did its job
Rosio Pasculli: The safest car seat is the one that fits your car and your child, and that will be used properly every time. They all pass the same safety tests on a pass/fail basis, so in theory they're all equally safe. However, if you can't use a seat properly because it's too difficult, then it's not safe.I would choose a front-adjust harness because you're more likely to not properly tighten the straps with a rear adjust seat (see here for what too loose looks like http://www.carseatsite.com/correct_harness_use.htm...I would also choose a seat with low bottom harness slots, 7" or lower (including infant insert). Not all infant car seats rated from 5 pounds will actually fit a newborn (most SnugRide 22 seats don't) because the bottom harness slot is so high that most newborns shoulders will be below it- and the harness strap must come from at or be! low the infant's shoulders. There's list of infant seat measurements her! e http://www.car-seat.org/forumdisplay.php?f=65The Winnie the Pooh seat you're looking at is a Designer 22, which will not fit most newborns. If you get a Graco, I would go with any version except the one with a 22 pound weight limit. An excellent budget friendly seat is the Cosco Comfy Carry Elite- it will fit almost all newborns and it has a front adjust harness.Always meet with a CPST (child passenger safety technician) to be sure you've installed your seat correctly and you know how to use it correctly. Not every fire or police station has a CPST on staff (though they may try to help you incorrectly) so to find a CPST near you, http://www.seatcheck.org/...Show more
